Writing for School

""When I look back at my essays from freshman and sophomore courses, it is evident that I used the essay prompts as a crutch...I was so focused on writing what I thought someone else believed and wanted to read, that I forget to write what I believed and what I wanted to read.".

The Birthmark

The Hole

This is a paper I wrote freshman year for English 124, a pre-requisite class for the Minor in Writing. This is one of the first papers I remember writing at U of M, and my inexperience is evident through the lack of in-depth analysis and originality.

This is a paper I wrote for Screen, Arts, & Cultures 236, my first of four film classes. Like "The Birthmark," this essay fails to make much insight about the topic outside of what we discussed in lecture.
